Minter, Washington Territory, United States of America

But history is generally written from the perspective of the winner. There is
another culture of people that lost greatly during this time. The previous
dwellers of the land were a multi-faceted people that lived on this land long before
the white man came to this land. For example, just north of Minter Bay on Carr Inlet
was a village of native Indians named the Sko'tlbabsh. This native village was just
north of Minter. Initially there was a willingness to live near each other, but soon
there was not enough room for everyone and the original dwellers of the land were
pushed out of their native lands, sometimes violently and without recourse. This is
not a new story, and it has oft been repeated across this vast world. The people
with the most numbers, the more advanced technology usually win the war, and history
is re written at someone's expense. This is not an attempt to remedy any of these
situations. It is only a reminder that progress is only progress for some. There
are always a few, sometimes many, who cannot call the change progress, but find it
painful, humiliating, and devastating to their way of life. The following link is
to a site that lists some of the various native villages that existed in the area.
It is a very extensive site with many links to other sites that should be researched.
Please visit the site and recognize the vast changes we have placed on those around us.
